DCHR WELLNESS PROGRAM PRESENTSStep Into Wellness Together: Mindful Steps, Meaningful Connections – This is WalktoberOctober 1 – October 31After the stellar success of our Star Trak Challenge, we’re keeping the momentum going with the return of Walktober—a 31-day journey of movement, mindfulness, and meaningful connection. This October, take a step back from the daily grind and a step forward into wellness. Whether you’re walking solo or syncing strides with your team, Walktober is your invitation to recharge, reconnect, and recommit to your health—one step at a time.
How It WorksRecord steps a day (using a tracker or logging physical activity minutes) to earn 1 leaf each day, when you log 6000+ steps, for the 31-day program. The program goal is 20 leaves during the 31-day challenge. • 6000-7999 steps = 3 points (red leaf) NOTE: You don’t have to wear a tracking device to record steps. Enter exercise minutes, then Walktober converts your minutes to steps (100+ activities to choose from). Let’s make this month a celebration of clarity, camaraderie, and conscious movement. Registration starts on Monday, September 15.Watch the 1-minute preview video to learn more. |

World Federation of Mental Health (WFMH)
World Federation of Mental Health (WFMH) established World Mental Health Day in 1992 to expand education about mental health, and it continues this work as an annual project. Mental health and substance use disorders affect 13% of the world’s population and are a leading cause of disability worldwide. Recent years have witnessed increased focus on reducing stigma due to psychiatric illnesses, improving access to mental health services, implementation of wider mental health policies, and inclusion of mental health in the sustainable development goals in most developed countries. The WHO Special Initiative for Mental Health 2019-2023, aims at universal health coverage for mental health to ensure access to quality and affordable care for mental health conditions.

By the end of this training, you’ll feel well-equipped to be another special education expert in the room and your child’s best advocate for their needs!
We will cover important topics such as
- What to expect from an IEP meeting,
- What to do in advance of the meeting and how to prepare,
- Tips for a successful IEP meeting, and
- What happens after a meeting and how to prepare for the remainder of the school year.
Want to study up early? Check out our office’s YouTube page featuring a series of six dynamic videos on Special Education in DC, including one on the How to Prepare for and Participate in an IEP Meeting!
