Join us online on Monday, October 20, 2025, for our Family Empowerment Series training “Preparing for an IEP Meeting.”

This session will teach us how to prepare for your child’s IEP meeting. After the session, you’ll know what or who to bring, which questions to ask, your student’s special education rights, and more! By the end of this training, you’ll feel well-equipped to be another special education expert in the room and your child’s best advocate for their needs!

We will cover important topics such as

  • What to expect from an IEP meeting,
  • What to do in advance of the meeting and how to prepare,
  • Tips for a successful IEP meeting, and
  • What happens after a meeting and how to prepare for the remainder of the school year.

Want to study up early? Check out our office’s YouTube page featuring a series of six dynamic videos on Special Education in DC, including one on the How to Prepare for and Participate in an IEP Meeting! All videos are available in English and Spanish with open captioning. Visit our page on YouTube: youtube.com/@DCSpecialEducationHub/playlists for all 12 videos!

Attending our Family Empowerment Series is a great opportunity for caregivers to receive information and ask questions about how best to support their students with disabilities. Don’t let this fantastic opportunity pass you by! We can’t wait to see you there!
